Opal: Food+Body Wisdom is looking for a Mental Health Counselor/Mental Health Therapist/Social Worker/Psychologist/Psychotherapist intern to offer therapeutic services to our clients.

Opal: Food + Body Wisdom, a locally and clinician owned, eating disorder treatment facility in the University District of Seattle, Washington, offering Partial Hospitalization, Intensive Outpatient and traditional outpatient services. We are looking for skilled individuals who want to join our team to provide quality treatment and work alongside a passionate and caring staff.


Job Title: Mental Health Intern 


Responsibilities: 


  • Provide individual, support system (relational) and group therapy for our Partial Hospitalization Program and Intensive Outpatient Program clients
  • Facilitate specific groups based on skills, training and interest
  • Maintain clinical documentation and other administrative tasks required for competent care
  • Work closely with the Head of Clinical Internships to complete all required clinical hours and supervision required by your graduate program within your internship 
  • Collaboration with other members of a multidisciplinary treatment team
  • Ride point as multidisciplinary team lead for each client, including case management and communication with client’s support systems and treatment team
  • Work regular shifts in the milieu, helping in the kitchen, supporting clients at therapeutic meals and between groups
  • Attend weekly individual and group supervision meetings, and weekly all-staff consult group


Educational/Credential Requirements: 


  • Must be a current graduate student in counseling, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or social work
  • Excitement for receiving specialized training in the treatment of eating disorders strongly desired

Hours:


  • Starting January 2023
  • 20+ hours, TBD. All hours will be M-F between 8am-6pm
  • Interns must be available to be onsite three days a week: Tuesday, Wednesday and either Monday or Friday. There is the possibility of spreading weekly hours over four days instead of three, if it's determined it will be mutually beneficial for the intern and Opal. There may be the option to attend one of these three meetings virtually.
  • Required Meeting Attendance (subject to change-can be talked about in interview):
    • All Staff Meeting: Wednesdays, 2:15pm- 3:30pm
    • Group Supervision: Thursdays, 12pm - 1pm; Tuesdays, exact time – TBD 
    • Individual Supervision: TBD
  • 30 - 60 minutes per day (virtually), for email and team collaboration, on weekdays that the intern is not required to be present in-person.


Covid:  All Opal staff are required to be fully vaccinated with either a two-shot series of an mRNA vaccine or the one-shot J&J vaccine along with a booster (by Jan 31, 2022) of an mRNA vaccine if it has been the recommended length of time from your last vaccination. As the CDC updates its recommendation on boosters, we ask our staff to comply with the most current recommendations regarding vaccinations and boosters.   Opal will honor religious accommodations requests under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and medical accommodations via the American Disabilities Act.
